Jay did an exceptional job and solved 2 thorny issues with an Andersen slider as both the screen and the door both had issues and made it nearly impossible to use this expensive Andersen door. He fixed both issues quickly. He's a great guy, excellent communication skills, great personality and fantastic problem solving skills. Super impressed - thanks Jay and Apex Window Werks!

We contacted the company after my wife got the number from one of their service vehicles. We had numerous fogged panes that needed attention. Once contacted, the estimate was provide quickly. Most of the glass was tempered and needed to be ordered special. This added about one week to the install date. We had 14 casement glass panes repaired in one visit. The windows were aluminum clad wood windows. I was concerned about having these 25 year old windows being dismantled to replace the panes. During the estimate Ben assured me this would not be an issue. The gentlemen that performed the work, were both polite and extremely efficient. The work was completed on all windows in just one visit. We did have a slight issue with one window. After contacting Apex the fix was handled quickly and with no issues. If you have fogged glass don't wait. The comfort level in the home was noticeable immediately. I would highly recommend Apex if you're in need of this kind of work. Having Apex replace the fogged glass saved me thousands of dollars over purchasing new windows. Thanks again for a job well done.

THE PROBLEM

Why It Happens: What Causes a Window Emergency

A window rarely breaks under normal conditions. It takes a sudden force – wind-driven debris, hail, a stray baseball, a branch coming down in a storm, an accidental impact, or a forced-entry attempt – to shatter tempered glass or crack an older single pane outright. Once that happens, the window stops doing its job in every direction at once: it no longer keeps weather out, holds heat in, or secures the opening against anyone who might walk by. What starts as a single point of failure spreads fast, since exposed framing and interior finishes begin absorbing the same rain, wind and cold air the glass was built to stop. Northeast Ohio adds its own layer of urgency to that equation.

Northeast Ohio adds urgency to that equation. Summer thunderstorms here can turn severe fast, and lake-effect gusts routinely top 50 miles per hour along the Erie shoreline and inland alike, turning unsecured branches and yard debris into projectiles. Older housing stock in dense neighborhoods – common in communities like Brooklyn Heights and East Cleveland – often carries single-pane glass with far less impact resistance than modern tempered or laminated units. A cracked pane left exposed one Ohio winter night can widen to a full breach by morning, which is why every broken window call gets treated as time-sensitive.

SAME DAY EMERGENCY WINDOW REPAIR IN JUST 2 HOURS!

Bring your window to our workshop, and we'll have it repaired and ready for installation in just 2 hours! Our team, specialized in rapid response, is adept at providing quick and efficient service for emergency repairs.

OUR APPROACH

What We Do: Securing First, Repairing Right

Emergency window repair is really two services delivered back to back. The first is immediate: securing the opening so your home or business is safe, dry and weatherproof within hours of your call, not days. The second is permanent: replacing the broken glass correctly, to the same standard as any non-emergency job, once the right materials are on hand.

For the immediate response, our technicians board up the opening with properly fitted plywood, sized and fastened to hold against wind and rain without damaging the surrounding frame – a rushed or oversized board-up often costs homeowners more in frame repair later than the original break did. From there, we measure the opening precisely and move straight into fabricating the permanent replacement, whether that's a standard broken glass replacement unit or a custom-cut pane for an older or nonstandard window.

We install tempered and laminated safety glass wherever the situation calls for it – tempered glass breaks into small, granular pieces rather than sharp shards, and laminated glass holds together on a vinyl interlayer even when cracked, both of which matter for ground-floor windows, storefronts and any opening with elevated safety or security risk. This same-day-to-permanent-fix approach is standard across every emergency call we take, residential or commercial, anywhere in our Cleveland–Akron service area.

Storm-Damaged Window Glass

Hail, wind-driven branches and flying debris are the most common cause of sudden glass failure in Northeast Ohio. We board up the opening the same day and schedule permanent glass as soon as the replacement unit is ready.

Break-In Window Damage

A forced-entry attempt often leaves a window unusable and the opening insecure. We secure the frame immediately and can install upgraded tempered or laminated glass for better resistance against a repeat attempt.

Impact-Cracked Window Glass

A stray ball, a rock thrown by a mower, or an accidental bump can crack glass without shattering it outright. Left alone, that crack spreads with the next temperature swing – we assess whether the pane needs full replacement or can be safely stabilized.

Boarded Window Repair

If you or another contractor already boarded up a broken window as a stopgap, we measure the opening, fabricate matching replacement glass, and remove the temporary board once the permanent fix is installed.

Shattered Storefront Glass

A broken storefront pane is a liability the moment it happens – exposed inventory, drafts and a bad first impression for customers. We prioritize commercial calls and offer commercial glass repair with tempered and security-rated glass options.

Broken Sliding Door Glass

A shattered patio or sliding door panel leaves an entire wall of your home exposed. We secure the opening and fabricate replacement tempered glass sized to your existing door track and frame.
THE FACTORS

Which Homes and Businesses Need This Most

Emergency glass calls cluster around a few predictable risk factors. Homes built before the 1980s frequently still have original single-pane or early double-pane glass, which lacks the impact resistance of modern tempered units – a single hard impact that would only crack a newer window can shatter an older one outright. We see this pattern often in established neighborhoods like Cleveland Heights and Olmsted Falls, where much of the housing stock predates modern glazing standards.

Commercial storefronts carry a different risk profile: large single panes of glass at street level, exposed to both accidental impact and deliberate vandalism, with a business's daily operations depending on that opening being secure. Any property with ground-floor glass facing a parking lot, street or alley is a higher-priority candidate for emergency service planning – knowing who to call before an emergency happens is worth more than finding out during one.

Response Time and Service Area

Emergency calls get priority scheduling, and in most cases we can have a technician on site the same day to secure the opening, with permanent glass following as soon as it's fabricated – standard turnaround on custom insulated units runs five to seven business days after measurement, though in-stock sizes can move faster.

Our emergency coverage spans the full Cleveland–Akron area, including communities like Rocky River and Hudson, along with dozens of surrounding towns. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, call before assuming otherwise – our service footprint is broader than most homeowners expect, and a same-day board-up is usually possible even outside our most common service zones.

Our Emergency Window Repair Process

Immediate Response

A call to our office starts the process the moment you dial – we ask what type of window is affected, how the glass broke, and whether the opening is currently open to the weather or a security risk. That short conversation lets us send a technician already equipped with the right board-up materials and tools for your specific situation, rather than making a first trip just to assess and a second trip to actually secure the opening.

If you call outside normal business hours with an active security or weather risk, tell us that up front – it changes how we prioritize the dispatch. Most callers reach us within minutes, and same-day response is standard for anything involving an open, unsecured window, whether that's a shattered pane from a storm or a break-in attempt still fresh enough that the frame hasn't been touched.

Our Emergency Window Repair Process

Secure the Opening

Once on site, the technician's first job is safety: clearing any remaining loose or hanging glass from the frame so nobody in the home gets cut later, then measuring the exact opening. If the permanent replacement glass isn't ready to install that same visit, a board-up goes in – properly fitted plywood, fastened directly into sound framing rather than forced into a damaged one, sized to hold against wind and driving rain without stressing the frame further.

This single step is usually what restores your home or business to a safe, weatherproof condition within hours of the initial call, well before the permanent glass has even been fabricated. A rushed or oversized board can cause more frame damage than the original break, which is why we treat this as its own careful step rather than something to rush through on the way to the "real" repair.
03
Our Emergency Window Repair Process

Assess and Measure

With the opening secured, we take precise measurements of the glass itself, not just the rough frame opening, since even a small measurement error means a delay while a new pane is fabricated. At the same time, we assess the frame and sash for any damage beyond the glass – warping, rot, or a bent track on a sliding door – since installing new glass into a compromised frame just sets up a second failure.

This is also when we identify the right glass type for the situation: standard insulated glass for most residential windows, tempered safety glass for ground-floor or high-risk openings where impact resistance matters, or laminated glass for storefronts and doors where holding together even when cracked is the priority. We'll walk you through which option fits your window and why before ordering anything.
04
Our Emergency Window Repair Process

Fabricate and Install

The replacement unit is custom-fabricated to the exact measurements taken on site – residential glass typically takes five to seven business days to arrive, though some standard sizes are available faster from stock. Once it's ready, installation into the existing frame usually takes well under an hour, since the frame itself was already confirmed sound during the assessment step.

Keeping the original frame in place, rather than defaulting to a full window replacement, is both faster and significantly less expensive in the vast majority of emergency cases – a full replacement is only necessary when the frame itself was damaged in the same event that broke the glass. If the frame or hardware needs its own repair alongside the glass, we'll say so plainly rather than upselling a replacement your frame doesn't actually need.
05
Our Emergency Window Repair Process

Warranty and Follow-Up

Every emergency repair is held to the identical workmanship standard as our scheduled, non-emergency jobs – there's no lower bar for rush work. Each installation is backed by a parts and labor warranty, and we document the repair with photos so there's a clear record if you ever need it for insurance purposes.

If anything about the seal, the fit, or the hardware doesn't hold up after installation, contact us and we'll come back to make it right at no additional charge. We'd rather fix a callback fast than have a customer living with a problem we already should have solved.
